Worship

Members and Friends of Grace UCC come together weekly to celebrate God’s presence in our lives through a traditional worship service. We acknowledge in everyday words that all of us have wandered from God’s path and are assured of God’s forgiveness and mercy. We share the liturgical history of the church with sung responses and a weekly affirmation of faith. A cohesive service of worship including hymns, choir anthem, children’s message, and sermon are built upon the Revised Common Lectionary. We come together in worship to seek God’s presence and are sent forth commissioned to serve God and to live in Peace.

Our hymns are from the E & R hymnal and some congregational favorites from the Songs of Grace hymn book. We provide valet parking, a Telex system for the hearing impared, large print bulletins, and nursery care is provided during the worship service. We have both a youth and a senior choir to share in the worship service. In the summer our worship services are held outside under our pavilion, weather permitting. Coffee hour and pot-luck dinners are planned throughout the year to provide additional time of fun and fellowship following the worship service. See Calendar of Events.

Worship and study resources, including the lectionary, are available on the UCC web site.

Christian Education

Sunday School classes are offered for all ages starting with our nursery class right up to our two adult classes, with many classes in between. All classes are centered on scripture and teach us how to apply the Bible to our contemporary lives. Various crafts, mission, and special programs are sponsored by our Christian Education Committee including Pennies from Heaven, Souper Bowl of Caring, and our annual mitten tree and Birthday Party for Jesus.

Our classes are filled with laughter, learning, and allow time for open discussion to deal with present day challenges. On the first Sunday of the month we gather all classes together for a special opening and celebrate the joys and concerns of our members and guests.

All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the prosperity of your children.

Youth Programs

Grace UCC rejoices in our vibrant and active youth program. The youth of all ages are an integral part of our coummunity of faith. Youth assist in worship, sing in the choir, serve on consistory and committees as well as participate in youth oriented activities. Our youth group offers opportunities for fellowship, service, and Christian growth. Retreats to our church camp, Hartman Center, and activities with the UCC Lebanon Association, Penn Central Conference, and Lancaster Theological Seminary allow our youth to contribute to and learn from the wider church. This vital ministry of Grace UCC is essential to who we are as a congregation.
